Single elimination
Participants are matched in pairs, and the winner of each match advances to the next round, while the loser is eliminated. This process continues until there's only one winner. .
Double elimination
Similar to single elimination, but participants are allowed to lose once before being eliminated. Losers enter a separate bracket for a chance to play in the finals.
Round Robin
Every participant plays against every other participant an equal number of times. Ideal for leagues and situations where each player or team needs to compete against all others.
Swiss System
Participants are not eliminated. Instead, they are paired in each round based on their performance in the tournament. The number of rounds is predetermined, and players with similar records play against each other.
Ladder
Participants challenge each other to climb the ladder. Winners of challenges move up, while losers move down or remain in place. This can be ongoing and doesn’t necessarily have to end.
Pool Play into Bracket
A hybrid format that starts with round-robin pools to seed participants into a single or double elimination bracket. This ensures participants get to play several matches before moving into an elimination phase.
